Beyond Our Daily “Itadakimasu” — What’s Happening in the Mountains and Fields?
By understanding that, we can savor a deeper kind of deliciousness.

“Wana-Brothers” is a trap-sharing community that offers urban dwellers an opportunity to vicariously experience the process of hunting and reflect on the cycle of life through a trap ownership program.
Rather than simply being a service to purchase game meat, it provides a hands-on journey—from hunting to receiving the meat as food—through the innovative mechanism of trap sharing.

The project began in 2020 in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture, with the launch of “Sangaku Guild” and “Shokuki Café Ten.” In 2021, Soil & Digital joined the initiative as a core partner, co-operating the project to the present day. Bit & Bio has been primarily responsible for service design, branding, creative development, and marketing.

The project was initiated with a focus on two key issues: the social problem of approximately 80% of deer captured through wildlife control being discarded, and the untapped potential of venison as a food resource.
Initially, Bit & Bio engaged in return for venison, undertaking the development of the website and e-commerce platform, setting activity guidelines, producing various content, and establishing media relations.

Later, the collaboration transitioned into a revenue-sharing model. Support was expanded into service design and business planning, leading to the development of features such as the “Trap Selection System” and annual subscription plans.
The initiative gained traction in 2022 with features in various media including Jimocoro, and in the fall of that year, it was awarded the Good Design Award.
In 2023, the project was selected for the Cabinet Office’s initiative to promote interaction for creating and expanding regional ties. In 2024, it was featured on TBS’s “THE TIME,” and covered by Nikkei and Nikkei Trendy, among others.

Beyond media recognition, the project has also been forging collaborations with corporations and local governments. In 2024, it partnered with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. and the consulting firm MIMIGURI to develop MINERVA, a new value exploration program for Honda employees.
In 2025, a consortium was established with Ueda City in Nagano Prefecture to promote the consumption of game meat, continuing efforts toward building a more sustainable society.

“How Do We Eat?” Tour — presented by Wana Brothers
A culinary exploration into the true flavor of wild game, guided by hunters and farmers living in the mountains and fields.

Set in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture, this immersive 2-day, 1-night food experience invites participants to learn with their whole body—directly from hunters—while savoring the unique tastes of gibier (wild game).
Retracing the journey of life that ends up on our plates, the tour explores the places where hunters live and work—mountains, fields, and forests—to uncover the deeper deliciousness that comes from understanding the process.

Participants will witness firsthand the practices of trap hunting and field dressing in the wild, and engage in direct conversation with hunters and chefs. By cooking the meat themselves and gathering around the same table, they gain more than just knowledge—they gain a visceral understanding of the life they are consuming.
Returning to the often-overlooked starting point of food, the tour offers a chance to physically comprehend the question: why, who, and how does our food reach us?

This experience is open to both adults and children, and aims to spark meaningful conversations around food, life, and our relationship to nature.

Bit & Bio has been involved in the project from inception to execution, leading the concept design, experience planning, on-site operations, creative development, and the building of a sales platform.

MINERVA – A New Value Exploration Program by Honda
Launched in May 2024, MINERVA is an in-house training initiative by mobility manufacturer Honda, designed to cultivate both talent and organizational culture through the exploration of new value propositions the company should offer to society.

The central theme of the program is for participants to personally interpret, define, and express Honda’s vision of “the joy of free mobility.”
Each course is co-developed with external exploration partners and encourages participants to step into unfamiliar environments, refine their sensibilities, and undergo experiences that illuminate their own core values. Over a period of approximately five months, participants engage in continuous exploration and self-discovery.

Bit & Bio joined the program in its inaugural year as an exploration partner.
Focusing on the theme “What value does mobility hold in our lives?”, Bit & Bio facilitated fieldwork design and research guidance through the activities of “Wana-Brothers” in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture, helping participants engage with mobility not just as a function, but as a lived and embodied experience.

EAT & MEET SEA VEGETABLE
A special event held at Isetan Shinjuku and Nihombashi Mitsukoshi that offered a new culinary experience with seaweed, inviting guests to explore its untapped potential.

The event was organized by Sea Vegetable, a collective of specialists ranging from researchers to chefs. Sea Vegetable operates a comprehensive business that spans basic seaweed research, seedling production, land- and ocean-based cultivation, and recipe development—all across Japan.

In an unprecedented collaboration, over 120 stores joined forces for this event. Sea Vegetable partnered with a diverse range of culinary professionals, and the department store buyers worked intensively to develop a wide array of original products.
More than 170 items were created, ranging from sweet treats to savory dishes that pair well with alcohol—offering a full spectrum of ways to enjoy the unique flavors and versatility of seaweed.

Bit & Bio contributed to the event by designing and building the official special website, receiving seaweed as compensation for their creative work.

This project transforms real-time footage of the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing—one of Tokyo’s most symbolic urban landscapes—into sound based on the movement of people.
By tuning the composition around 432Hz, a frequency often said to be gentle for plant growth, this work reimagines the urban crowd as a sonic environment for the flora.

Intentional Eater #01
An exhibition held at FabCafe Tokyo, exploring diverse perspectives around the act of eating—an attempt to reframe our relationship with food from unfamiliar angles.

The values of “fast, tasty, and cheap” have long symbolized the age of mass production and mass consumption, supporting our dining tables for decades.
But today, the environmental burdens and climate crises brought on by overproduction and overconsumption can no longer be ignored. Eating is no longer just a matter of personal preference—it is an act that affects human society, the natural world, and the future of ecosystems.

Each time we eat, we engage in an exchange with beings beyond ourselves. How are we connected to them, and how do we impact one another?
Now is the time to reevaluate those relationships.

From the resurgence of the Slow Food movement and the rise of veganism to the introduction of the Michelin Green Star, the way we value food is starting to shift.
Our standards are expanding beyond the plate, beyond flavor, price, and speed—to include questions like: Where did this food come from? What processes did it undergo before reaching us?

This exhibition focused on the often-overlooked background of meat consumption, offering visitors a chance to reflect on their own eating habits in the context of environmental, societal, and ethical diversity.
As part of the experience, a mini role-playing game presented through a Game Boy allowed visitors to explore these themes in an interactive, RPG-style format—inviting them to embody different viewpoints and rethink the act of eating as something intentional.
